How this is calculated

Area is calculated from the chosen shape — width × height for a rectangle, π × (diameter ÷ 2)² for a circle, and the outer circle's area minus the inner circle's area for a ring or washer. Weight then follows from volume (area × thickness) times material density: Weight (kg) = area (cm²) × thickness (cm) × density (g/cm³) ÷ 1000.

This calculator gives the weight for a part already cut to size — for how much of a full sheet that part actually uses and how many fit per sheet, see the sheet nesting guide and the main cut time & nesting calculator. For a full job cost including machine time, see the laser, plasma or waterjet cost calculators.

Estimates for guidance only — confirm exact density and current material pricing with your supplier before ordering.
